Bacterial Fermentation Facility Upgrade
Total Precision Cleanrooms Aust was engaged by Synertec to design and build the cleanrooms for the MSD PC2 Upgrade in Bendigo.
The MSD production facility in Bendigo currently manufactures several viral and bacterial live and attenuated biological vaccines for the animal health sector for local and overseas markets. This project involves increasing the bacterial fermentation production capacity. A new building extension was constructed which interfaces directly with the existing production facility, as well as new services and infrastructure to support the new building extension.
The facility needed to be designed and built to meet APVMA GMP requirements, as well as OGTR and DAWR Physical Containment requirements. The existing production facility needed to remain operational during the construction process.
The new PC2 facility had several constraints with the build mostly limited to access and blending the finishes and fitout with the existing facility. TPC’s design incorporated our new ISO-PHAR wall and ceiling systems with fully flush doors and windows. The external cleanroom walls were supplied locally to match the colour of the original façade and speed up the build of the outer wall structure. The windows were complex to design and manufacture because they needed to be watertight, tinted, removable, airtight, double glazed, colour matching and flush internally to meet GMP standards.
